Where are you from?
I’m from Lithia Springs, GA.
What schools did you attend?
I graduated from Georgia Highlands with two associate degrees. My first degree is in Business Administration, which I received in 2003. I knew that business was not the field that I had a passion for and later went back to school for my Associates of Science in Dental Hygiene and graduated in 2008.
Tell us about your family!
My husband is Michael and we’ve been happily married for 15 years this year!! We’ve been blessed with our two beautiful and healthy children. Elijah is 8 years old and loves the outdoors, baseball, and art. Emmalyn is 4 years old and loves singing, dancing, and art.
How did you get into this field?
One of my passions is to encourage people to take care of their bodies and this eventually led me to the dental hygiene field. I really enjoy teaching and encouraging people to take care of their teeth and gums. Our mouth is the gateway to the rest of our bodies and can affect our bodily functions if not properly cared for. It’s always rewarding to see patients who have struggled with specific oral health problems make progress towards good health. It’s through patient education, regular oral hygiene cleanings, determination and consistency by the patient to improve on their home care that helps them succeed.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Being outdoors and near nature is always peaceful and very spiritual for me. Nature reveals to me God’s beauty, glory, presence, creativity, and most of all His loving care. I enjoy camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and biking. Now that our kids are getting a little bit bigger, we are able to take them along on more outdoor adventures.
What’s your favorite place in town?
One of my favorite places is Crossfit USC. It allows me to challenge my body and take care of myself physically. Even on the ways when I don’t feel like going because I am tired, I am always thankful for the energy and strength it gives me.
What’s your favorite movie, TV show, and book?
My favorite movie is Steel Magnolias, my favorite TV show is Friends, and my favorite book is the Bible which is the manual for our life.
Do you have any pets?
We have a goldfish named Comet because he is silver and has a long, flowing tail. We are on the go a lot and a goldfish is perfect for our family at this stage of life.
Is there a church or community organization you’re involved in that you’d like to shout out?
Three Rivers Church is an amazing place to go to be fed God’s truth and to fellowship with wonderful people. We are located at Unity Christian School’s building & I would like to invite anyone looking for a church home to come check us out. Their mission is to teach the gospel and disciple the nations by being and producing radical followers of Christ. I would also like to give a shout out to Unity Christian School for providing our children with a biblical worldview education. The partnership we have with Unity has been a huge blessing in our lives as they work with us to develop our children’s faith, character, and morals. If we don’t teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
Now that you’ve met one of our staff members, we’d like to meet you, too! We’re always accepting new patients, so set up an appointment today.
